About Me

January 12, 2008

Hello! I am Kathleen , mother of four, grandmother of two. I have spent my life in the service of children, my own and others, in several different capacities. I have been a teacher of special needs, an elementary art teacher, a parent educator. I have worked as a caseworker in the field of international adoption, and am an adoptive parent. I have been a writer of children’s books, artist and illustrator. I live with my husband Don of 29 years, our youngest son, and one min -pin named jasmine.

MY father was a Lt. Col. in the Army , our family has a long line of military service. Our oldest son is an Army Sgt. He is the father of our two little military kids. He was the inspiration for our book, We Serve Too! Our second son is in graphic design at Kansas State University, and did wonderful work on our book. He has his own webdesign business called REdesigns. Our daughter is also a graphic design major at University of Northern Co. Our youngest son is about to turn 18 and graduate from high school.

My life is marked by a love of my Lord Jesus Christ and a change He created in me that woke me to incredible beauty and a deeper love of life. I enjoy singing, drawing, photography and vacations with my family. My friend and partner Paula and I have been living an adventure after creating the book We Serve Too! A Child’s Deployment Book and We Serve Too!2, A Child’s Reunion Book. Our latest production is a coloring book of the military alphabet. We look forward to finding out where this new road will lead as we try to help children who sacrifice the time and attention of a beloved parent for the protection of our freedom!
We are now working on our third book, which addresses the experience of a parent that comes home wounded.
